The Earl of Doncaster has been a fixture in the town since 1938, a four-star Art Deco hotel with 83 bedrooms, three bars, a restaurant and some of the best event spaces in the area. The heritage was already there. They just needed a website that did it justice.
The brief was all about balance. The Earl has a strong visual identity rooted in its Art Deco history, but a website that leaned too hard into the period could quickly feel heavy or dated. We used a simple colour palette and typography to bring that character through without letting it overwhelm the experience. Considered font choices nod to the hotel’s heritage, while the layouts stay clean and uncluttered.
The result is a site that works just as well for someone booking a room as it does for a couple researching wedding venues or a business looking for conference space. Clear navigation, strong imagery and a structure that makes it easy to find what you’re looking for, whatever your reason for visiting.
A website that finally does justice to the building behind it. The Earl now has an online presence that feels considered and premium, without losing the warmth and accessibility that makes it such a well-loved venue. Since launch, the site has seen stronger search visibility and an increase in direct bookings, giving the hotel a digital presence that works as hard as the team behind it.
